Madison Cares

Madison Cares - just two words, but rich with meaning. This was the name Porchlight chose for its recent capital campaign. But for people in our area who are homeless primarily due to mental illness, those two words represent a compassionate community and a hopeful future.Safe Haven Resident

As the economy collapsed, Porchlight made a bold commitment to improve and expand its services and raise the money to do it. One of our most critical services is Safe Haven, a facility that provides immediate support to homeless people with serious mental illness. For years, Safe Haven served its clients in an old, costly, and inadequate rented home. Our dream: to raise $4 million dollars to build a new Safe Haven along with additional affordable housing units. With the support of hundreds throughout our community, Porchlight broke ground this fall. In summer of 2012, a new Safe Haven will open its doors to welcome people isolated from society, homeless and often hopeless.

For 25 years Porchlight has worked to create a stronger, safer, and healthier
community by providing our most needy neighbors with decent, affordable housing and support services. Porchlight's achievements over the years, including this capital campaign, would not have been possible without the creativity, expertise, and caring contributions of so many in our community. You have proved once again that Madison truly does care. And for that Porchlight has two more familiar but heartfelt words:

Thank You!

The campaign has now been successfully completed, but there are still ways to support this important initiative.

How you can help.
