Safe Haven provides temporary housing and support services for homeless men and women with mental illness. Safe Haven offers basic services as well as a psychiatric clinic. For many clients Safe Haven is an entry point to the community service system.
Currently Safe Haven offers 14 beds for overnight guests with additional capacity and services for day-time drop-in visitors. Safe Haven clients are provided with meals, laundry facilities, showers, phone and mail services, and referrals to community agencies. Safe Haven is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Porchlight's Safe Haven program has successfully served homeless people suffering from serious mental illness for over a decade. Unfortunately our area's economic climate combined with the large number returning veterans is increasing the demand for these services. In 2010 Porchlight launched Madison Cares to take the bold step of building two new buildings to accommodate our area's increasing need. In November of 2012, the new Safe Haven and affordable housing facility, offering 34 efficiency units, opened its doors! Learn more about Madison Cares.
Safe Haven's current location is: 4006 Nakoosa Trail, Madison, WI 53714
