The Soloist:
A Lost Dream, an Unlikely Friendship
and the Redemptive Power of Music
By Steve Lopez
Community Read
In celebration of the launch of Porchlight's Madison Cares Campaign we have joined forces with the Madison Public Library for a community read of The Soloist by Steve Lopez.
The Soloist is a remarkable story of the bond between a journalist and a mentally ill, homeless, classically trained musician in Los Angeles. The book was turned into a motion picture starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx.
Read the book. Join a library discussion.
Host a book club. Watch the movie.
Members of the community are encouraged to read the book and then get involved in a discussion either with friends or through the library.
The book and DVD are available at the Madison Public Library or can be purchased at Borders or Borders online.
